Nuggets Made the Knicks An Offer To Trade Carmelo to NY, But It Has Been Rejected By The Knicks.

Close, but no cigar?! According to the Daily News Frank Isola, sources says that the Denver Nuggets had made the New York an offer to send Carmelo Anthony and Chancey Billups in exchange for Raymond Felton, Danilo Gallinari, a another starter (which sounds like a Wilson Chandler or Landry Fields), Eddy Curry, and a first round draft pick. According to the source, the price was just too steep to accept. And I for one agree. Sounds like they want every from the Knicks except the kitchen sink. Seems like Denver is determined to unload Billup's salary somehow. Take Felton out of this deal, and then I'd say, pull the trigger!

But its a very tough decision because if these two teams are unable to hash out an agreement by the trade deadline, and something goes horribly wrong with the new CBA (Franchise Tag), this will look like an opportunity lost.  But at the same time, tying up salary cap space for just three players can back fire on you no matter how talented those player are (ask Miami).  The Heat are a very good team, but as of now are a couple of pieces away from filling all of their needs.  And now they have no extra funds available to bring someone in to fill those voids.

Even if the Knicks can't land Carmelo, the Knicks have proven they are a good team with what they currently have, and allocating the money that would have been given to Carmelo can be used to add to the talent of this team.  And there is always plan B,C, and D in Chris Paul, Deron Williams and Dwight Howard.  However, I still believe the Knicks will get this done, without having to donate any vital organs.
