Knicks End Their Losing Skid with a 98-92 Victory Over the Pacers

The Knicks first game of 2011 went well as they defeated the Indiana Pacers 98-92 at the Garden. However, it wasn't all good news as Danilo Gallinari went down with 6:41 left in the 4th quarter with a knee injury. He left the game immediately and will be re-evaluated tomorrow by doctors.  The game was a close one and fast pace as both teams were running up and down the court the entire game, and it was evident as you can tell players were worn down at the end with 34 total points scored in the 4th.  Of course this game was nothing like when the Knicks faced the Pacers last year around the same time, January 3, 2010, where surprisingly the Knicks annihilated the Pacers 132-89.

Wilson Chandler had an off night but managed to score 10 point including a beautiful half-court shot to end the third quarter.  All 5 starters scored in double figures, with Amar'e Stoudermire having another big game with 26 points and 8 rebounds and having a major impact on the game down the stretch.  Stoudermire has been clutch at the end of games, as he leads the league in 4th quarter points per game. Speaking of impact, I can't say enough about Ronny Turiaf and the toughness he brings to the line-up.  Turiaf scored only 2 points but added an important 10 rebounds and 6 blocks shots as he continues to prove to be a menace in the paint to opposing teams, off the bench.  He played a healthy 28 minutes this afternoon, mainly due to Gallinari (who scored 19) going down late in the game.  The guards Raymond Felton and Landry Fields scored 14 and 10 respectively.

For the Pacers, Danny Granger had a huge game scoring 25 points on 9-23 pct. shooting and collected 17 rebounds. Darren Collison also had a good game with 22 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists.  Roy Hibbert came off the bench to score 10 points and 4 rebounds in 16 minutes.
