Walsh's Plan: Keep Wilson Chandler

Good news Knicks fans, one of the keys to the Knicks success this season, may be here for the long term. Donnie Walsh has stated that he intends to keep Wilson Chandler when he becomes a free agent. "Wilson's a restricted free agent and I'm going to sign him," Walsh said yesterday. "He's a helluva player." Apparently Walsh had a chance to sign Chandler to a long term deal before October's deadline but wanted to see how this year's collective bargaining agreement would play out. According to Marc Berman of the NY Post, the Knicks plan is to snare both Carmelo Anthony and Chandler if the new CBA has the same rule regarding being able to exceed the salary cap when re-signing players. A league source states the Knicks may look to give Chandler a 5 year 60 million dollar deal. The team would have to sign Carmelo first of course in order for this to work.
